pricing
market prices
Pricing is a difficult area for medical products. Regulations in some countries mean that once a price is established it may be difficult to increase the price significantly. Concerns about parallel imports meant that pricing has to be considered on a wider basis than an individual country. Sources of price information are limited and what is available can be misleading as it may bear little relation to what is actually paid in the market when various discounts are applied. For new technologies it may be hard to select the most appropriate comparator(s).
Talking to clinicians and administrators about price is challenging but Translucency has the appropriate contacts and we are able to collect and analyse pricing information. We are objective and independent and people will give us sensitive information.
We also research pricing strategies and sensitivities to assess the impact of price on decision-making using formal qualitative and quantitative techniques.
