Our client wanted to understand the actual reimbursement received by pharmacists for a number of branded and generic pharmaceutical products in many countries in the EU and North America. The client, a research organization, felt that there were discrepancies between official figures which are used for rebates/discounting in the UK and what retailers were actually paying wholesalers. Our client wanted to understand how the UK situation compared with that in other countries for a range of drugs.
We undertook research in each of a number of European countries as well as the USA and Canada. We identified both the reimbursement rates and any differences between the reimbursed rate and actual prices achieved in the market.
We identified where in the distribution chain discounting occurred in each of the countries of interest.
The results of Translucency’s research were published by the client. The research created a high profile for the client, generating publicity nationally as well is in professional publications.
